Jodie's WL - Another 800gms gone!

Mon Jan 03, 2011 1:28 pm

Ok I made it my new years resolution to lose weight, not for the wedding, for ME this time. I don't want my kids to see their mum yoyo diet like my mum did (which is where I believe my body issues started) I want them to see a healthy happy mummy who eats well and looks after herself, leading by example.

Fortunately, Daniel is now also taking this seriously, I think he saw the determination in my face  and he is being amazingly helpful and is now actually eating salad. He in no way needs to lose weight but salads never hurt anyone and generally if he is naughty I use him as an excuse!

I want to hit below 70 before the end of Jan (about 3-4 kilos I THINK I will stand on my Wii in a moment) I also have a set of "goal" shorts. They fit, and I can zip them up, but I look like a huge rolly sausage, so my aim is to look good in them! (I will also upload a pic of me in my shorts to face the reality of it all  )

I already love exercise but sadly I love eating just as much!

I am going to TRY and update as much as possible, and I am going to use Calorie King to track myself, I was going to join WW but they are way to expensive and Calorie King does pretty much the same thing!

Ok now my huge intro is over I am going to run away and weigh myself and take THAT picture *eeew* and upload it :)

Updating Week to Week

Starting Weight: 74.5
Current Weight: 72.7
Lost To Date: 1.8 - 2.42% of my body gone

My List of Goals

Goal 1 - 69.9kgs - To be below 70 for the first time in YEARS!
Goal 2 - 67kgs - HALF WAY!!
Goal 3 - 64.9Kgs - Below 65!!!
Final Goal - 58 - 60Kgs - What I weighed when I met Daniel

Photos and weight *sighs* long way to go!

Mon Jan 03, 2011 2:05 pm

WEEK 1
Weight: 74.5
BMI: 27 :|

The AWFUL Truth... I couldn't get them zipped up! No more eating for Jodie...*slaps hand* I circled what I want to get rid of, I also want slimmer arms....

Apparently to get to the "Ideal" BMI of 22, I need to weight 59.9kgs. Which to me is a bit of a pipe dream. I would love to hit it, but so long as I get between 60-65 I'll be a very happy chicken!

Wanting to do it for yourself is the best way to start - and having dan's support will definitely make it easier. Even if he doesn't need to lose weight, he'll benefit from the healthy eating!

Taking a pic of yourself in your shorts will be great motivation - try to take photos every month, it'll let you see how you're going. I found that often I'd not notice much difference in my body looking in the mirror, but when I compared
pics, the changes were obvious :) (try in your bathers or undies - you'll get to see a lot more then!)

I don't want to sound like a nagging mum but you really need to eat more than 800 cals in a day. What does Calorie King recommend for your daily limit?

Can you add some fruit, nuts, yoghurt, low fat custard?

Haha No you're not nagging, I was trying to figure out why it is so low. Apparently I should be eating 1200 a day. But I am going to try to have snacks throughout the day like watermelon, apples, almonds etc which should add to my total

Good luck Jodie! I'm sure you'll get there.

Maybe think about adding some protein to your lunch to get your calories up a bit. And maybe a bigger serving of protein at dinner.

Look forward to reading your updates and seeing your progress!

Thanks ladies! Its lovely to have so much support!

I have given up on telling people in the "real" world that I am dieting because it is either answered with a snort, or a 'Why? You dont need to lose weight" "you will just put it back on after the wedding" or "You'll just get pregnant soon and fat anyway" (which I wont because we prob are putting off having bubbas for a bit :( )

Throw out the diet word!! Diets don't work.

Making a healthy lifestyle change does work - it should be something
sustainable, unlike a diet which implies you're restricting certain foods.

I'd also suggest adding more protein - don't overdo the fruit as it's all sugar. Adding some
sort of protein to every meal will make you feel fuller for longer.

Try yoghurt (natural, or low sugar and low fat), eggs, tuna/chicken, cottage cheese.

Also make sure you're getting healthy fats - a small handful
of nuts is good for this (10-20 almonds)

I'd also have a better breakfast - cornflakes aren't the best thing to have, most cereals
aren't. Try scrambled eggs, or oats (bircher muesli), fruit smoothies made with yoghurt, milk, some protein powder and fruit, pancakes with protein instead
of flour (and no sugar!)

Oooh the smoothies and pancakes sound YUM! I cant have egg unfortunatly. Too much makes me break out in rashes all over my face  otherwise it would be so easy. I want to call it a lifestyle change haha but diet is shorter

Boo!! to no eggs...that limits your options!

Don't call it anything - then no one can comment :) don't give in when friends bombard you with offers of food though, unless it's something you want. We've been away for a few days and packed all our own food before we left. Our friends were constantly offering us wine, food, dessert etc (and implying I was awful for saying no!) - one has since been complaining on facebook
about tight fitting clothes and putting on weight. (I win I think...)

Good Luck on your diet/lifestyle change journey Jodie!

I have to say that I admire your bravery by taking photos- they must be an awesome motivator!
