Secret Weapons - Low cal foods

Mon May 09, 2011 1:23 pm

Hi All,

I have had a look but cant see another thread like this so I am sorry if there is.

Another fourm I am on has a thread just like it and wow some great ideas came out... so here goes!

We all have our secret weapons when it comes to food, those little discoveries have made along the way: Food that somehow feels like it should be way more calories than it actually is.

I'll start with a few

Instant miso soup - 25 cal on a cold say a nice little warm up
Laughing Cow Cheese - around 45 cals
Special K - Chocolatey Bars < - My fav at the moment around 85cals

Hmmm- I find the best thing to eat is vegies! I can have the biggest salad, but still only have a couple of hundred calories.

I have jelly lite as dessert - it's enough to get over the sweet cravings, and I think I'm getting dessert...and it's only 9 calories :)

Love the miso soup, it was my mainstay last winter when it was too cold for salads :)

I have that one too, I need to get a baby formula dispenser so I can take it to uni for the afternoon.

I love cottage cheese and tuna on rice cakes, so filling! Good protein with low cals.

I also make my own smoothie cubes.... I blend some berries, banana, yogurt and a spot of honey and put into ice cube trays, pop them in the freezer... mind have lids so its easy... then when i want a smoothy i pop one out into the blender with some water and milk.... YUMMMO and it doesn't have the added sugar actual smoothy cubes have.

My new breakfast favourite is the uncle toby's gourmet selection oats. A yummy cooked breakfast in 90 seconds with 170 calories (with skim milk included) I think I like the apple/sultana one best (so far)
