I lost 6 kgs in August... Hope to lose another 15 kgs by Xmas... I'm finding the online automatic calorie counter on http://www.myfitnesspal.com/ fantastic... I'm sticking to 1500 calories a day & feeling great. I'll start the gym soon to tone my body and improve my fitness level. :)

I am officially joining this thread!! Anytime Fitness just opened in my suburb and I joined a month ago waiting for it to open ... so here's to getting up at 5am tomorrow! :e_doh:
Food is a MASSIVE issue for me. I'm pretty sure I'm actually addicted to sugar and I struggle with it everyday. About a month or so ago my sister and I made a pact to weigh 70kgs (or as close to) by Christmas and for the first week I kicked a*se, losing 1.5kgs by just changing what I was eating. And it's been downhill ever since ... story of my life!

I turn 22 on Sunday and I currently weigh 95kgs. I want to WANT to go clothes shopping, to feel confident and sexy in the bedroom with my fiance like I used to and not be hounded by my mother every time I visit her about my weight. My sister is about 10kgs less than me, 7 years older and has a 9 week old son - so I have no excuse!

My current daily diet consists of-
Breakfast - 2 egg omelette with bacon, capsicum, shallots. (I have these chopped in containers at the beginning of every week and only use a small sprinkle of bacon)
Morning - Apple/yogurt
Lunch - I really struggle with this! This week is zucchini and carrot slice
Afternoon - Apple/yogurt
DInner - Meat and veg/spaghetti bolognaise/roast etc.
(Any suggestions to improve this are so welcome)

This is a GOOD day! It's what I aim for everyday but it invariably derails with me eating some form of chocolate/chocolate milk/random other crap.

I need help with lunch suggestions (we have a sandwich toaster, fridge, kettle, microwave, freezer at work) and I really need variation - I get bored with food quickly and that means I just buy something bad to have a change.

I'd be stoked to lose 10kgs by Christmas!

Hi phillipaelise - I'm also trying to lose some weight and have a seriously sweet tooth too. I've been pretty good at cutting out carbs (pasta, potatoes, bread, rice etc) in the evenings but after dinner, I NEED to have something sweet to eat. In my quest to shed the weight, I've recently discovered a couple of guilt free treats that hit the spot.

There is a sugar free drinking chocolate I stumbled upon in Woolies last weekend which is made by a company called Vitarium, its 100% natural so no artificial sweeteners - you can drink it with hot milk or make a frappe (I use skimmed milk), and each serve only contains just over 1g of carbs. There are also a number of sugar free chocolate bars and lollies which you can also pick up in Coles or a chemist - granted, they don't taste as good as the real deal but there are some pretty decent tasting options out there. As far as protein bars go, the tastiest ones I've found are the Bodytrim bars, they have very few grams of carbs in them too. I also sampled a couple of the Atkins bars recently and they're not bad either. Jols lollies are also sugar free and taste pretty fruity too.

Good luck :D

I think if you stick to 1200 - 1500 calories per day & drink 2 litres of water the weight will come off - 5 years ago over a 1.5 year period I went from 110 kgs to 65 kgs eating that calorie range with no exercise & just eating lean cuisines but I find the lite n easy dinners a lot better now.

Hi phillipaelise

I bought 3 biggest loser cook-books on ebay & they are great - that might help you come up with ideas for recipes you like? & they are all low calories.

If you go to http://www.ebay.com - that is the American ebay site but the books are cheap & search on (see below) they arrive within 2 - 3 weeks.

The Biggest Loser Family Cookbook

The Biggest Loser Quick & Easy Cookbook

The Biggest Loser Flavors of the World Cookbook

I think what I eat seems to make just as much difference to me as how much I eat. I always try and stick to around 1300 calories a day but if I eat a chocolate bar every day even if I account for the calories the weight just doesn't seem to move very fast if at all, but if I replace those calories with something a bit more benificial it seems to make a difference, which is hard because I also have a MASSIVE sweet tooth and find it very difficult to not eat dessert after dinner as well. Lately I've been eating dinner and then jumping straight on the treadmill and I stay on there until I don't feel like chocolate anymore because then I feel like it defeats the purpose of all my hard work on the treadmill lol!

Hi Phillipaelise,

I find the calorie counter at myfitnesspal really helpful :)

do you put cheese in your omlette or milk? if its just 1 egg you should be fine but use lean ham instead of bacon

I would def not be having spag bol for dinner... if you do want some think like this try making turkey mince meatballs (just add an egg to the mince) in a tomato base with some Quinoa instead of pasta :) will taste delish and be really good for you...

if you have a roast use lean meat and a roasting bag so you dont need oil, also hold off on the gravy :)

if you get hungry at work have some fruit near you or nuts for you to snack on instead of chocolate. and as for lunch i usually have a LaZuppa (gluten and dairy free) soup or i have 4 rice crackers with 1/4 avacado and 1 small tin of tuna :)

oh also sometime when i think i am hungry i have a cup of tea and it helps :)

just start making little changes and you will notice a difference :)

So I need to join this thread - desperately need to.

So I'm 19, 5'2" and weigh just under 80 kg and I hate it.

Food is my problem - I have an addiction to all the things I shouldn't eat - chocolate, lollies, hot chips, chocolate biscuit, cheese toasties every day, fried food, maccas. LOL No those aren't all the things I eat but I shouldn't be eating them.

I tried on a pair of pants that I brought in January - and I couldn't even do them up and I remember when I brought them that they fit nicely.

FH and I enjoy food - and he spoils me with it. Which is okay when I'm training at the gym but not so good when I'm not training. I have a desk job so I can't even say that I'm active during the day.

So today 31 September 2012 - no more junk just clean eating - no junk and more water.

I want to lose about 15kg - 65kg is my goal weight and I want it to be happening by Christmas. FH and I love the beach but I just don't feel comfortable in a bikini or short shorts.

I want WC to keep me accountable - because I want to do this for me and for my FH. It kills me that he doesn't even deny that I've gotten fat - he says it in the best possible way because he loves me and doesn't want to hurt me - but I also want him to be honest.

I will fit into those pants again, and I will be comfortable in a bikini by Christmas.

Well last month was good for me I am down to 64 which I am heaps happy about. I have notices all my pants fit me better t
Now. Also this week I have had two separate people comment and ask if I've lost weight :-)

Hopefully I can continue with how I am going. I have a pair of boardies that are just abit small and I would love to fit into them properly for summer

Hey guys its the end of my first week and I weighed in this morning at 72.6kg so really only 600g lost which is a little depressing since i really tried this week to be good with my diet :(
Hopefully this week will be a little better. I only want to lose another 7.6kg in 15 weeks so really thats roughly what i need to be losing each week, but I just hope it says consistent and I don't plateau or breakdown and have that steak sandwich with cheese and butter that i have been craving :P

Does anyone else suffer from chronic fatigue? I got diagnosed after 2 rounds of glandular fever (2008 and 2010). I am struggling to exercise some days and i will sleep 12-14 hours after working a big day and I just don't have the energy to exercise but don't want to cut back my calories under 1200 a day.
Any tips that I could use to maybe give me some ideas on how i can still stay on my weight loss journey with success or help boost my energy or metabolism to get the most out of the time that i am awake? I had a B complex shot recently from the doctors and i take iron tablets which does help. But any additional tips would be most helpful as with wedding planning, exercising, studying (online), working full-time can be a bit draining

OMG How good are those!! Just amazing! I don't buy them as there is no way I could stop at 2~

Well I had a 2.5kg loss for August. I could have done more, but did not lose any weight over the past 2 weeks. Believe it or not, I am actually pleased with this as I have been eating really bad. I am 72.6kg at the moment and want to get under 70 by the end of September.

I had my appointment with the specialist as I have a problem with my knee. It clicks :) and hurts when I exercise. News wasn't so fantastic. I have 3 lumps in there that need to be cut out. I also have arthritis in it due to the injury....at 23!! I asked if after the op I would be able to exercise. His answer was. "You wont ever be running the 100m"...I am going to look into swimming :) Stupid doctor and stupid knee wont stop me on my weight loss journey!

Heres to SKINNY SEPTEMBER!!!!

I'm back in for September too MP. I set myself a goal to lose 3 kilo in August but only managed 1.3 kilos - and can I tell ya, I worked my butt off to achieve that weight loss. These last few kilo's are an absolute nightmare to shift but I am totally convinced that I can do it.

I was so naughty yesterday - I ate an entire bag of jelly snakes, once I started, I just couldn't restrain myself. So, I dragged myself out of bed this morning and went to the gym to work it off. Have promised myself I will be good today but FH and myself are going out for dinner and drinks tonight so will stick to vodka, soda and lime and NO DESSERT :(

I've never cooked with quinoa before but have tasted it - I travelled around South America last year and it is a big staple in Peru. They use it a lot in soups and stews but it sounds to me like you eat it as a side. Is it low carb? Also, have you got any tips on how to cook it and what best to serve it with?

Those cheesy quinoa cakes look delicious - might have to give them a try. Thanks for the tips, will definitely try cooking with it as I love stirfrys but have also cut out pasta & rice so this will be a good alternative to serve with dinner.

Have also just joined MFP and have entered my exercise and meals for the day. I was just about to grab a cup full of almonds to snack on for the afternoon while I do some study (aka surf the net) and was horrified to see that it contains 1,648 calories!! Plus, 1 vodka soda and lime weighs contains 120 calories - and I thought that was supposed to be a skinny drink!! MFP has already given me such a wake up call about what I'm eating & how many calories I'm consuming which has a lot to do with why I'm not losing as much weight as I'd like.

So, for the month of September I'm going to log all of my exercise and food on MFP - and see how I go from there. Am already looking forward to the challenge this month brings!
