It's hard to answer the pain question as everyones tolerance to pain is so different. I'm never really bothered by waxing, I don't generally find it painful, even XXX waxing, but others are in agony!
Some people recommend taking anti inflammatories like nurofen etc an hour or so beforehand to take some of the edge off, but it's up to you.
The redness/swelling will def be gone in a week. I would probably get it done even closer to the wedding. You will probably need to stop shaving 2-3 weeks prior depending on how quickly your hair grows

Good luck!!

4 days beforehand would be enough. I get waxed regularly including legs, brows, underarms and all off brazilian. It can be uncomfortable but it's bearable. I take Mersyndol Day Strength before going. The important thing is to go to a good specialist waxing salon.

I would get them waxed, rather than shaved. I'm not sure about you, but I can see still the black roots of my hairs when I shave, but when I wax those are gone and it looks much better.

I would wax about 3 days before your wedding and you can generally buy an aftercare cream from your salon that helps with any redness :)

If you want to wax your underarms for the big day, start asap and get it done regularly, it will mean you get better results when you get waxed for the wedding

I've waxed my underarms and my brazillian before, and tbh the underarm hurt so much more! Plus it activated my sweat glands like crazy, which was a rather unpleasant sensation :P

You could try hair removal cream, that's what I use for my underarms now. It's cheaper than waxing, there's no pain, and you can use up the rest of the bottle on your legs and arms for a fuzz free look that's inexpensive too :)
