Thu Aug 07, 2008 9:23 pm

Do you use a pencil or liquid eyeliner?

What brand do you recommend?

Rimmel liquid eyeliner. Its the bomb! It has a little brush on the end as opposed to the usual domed shaped applicator you get with liquid liner.

Kohl pencil is always a winner. Lancome has a nice one.

Ohhh I much much prefer liquid eyeliner. I used pencil for years and then discovered Liquid eyeliner!!!! I found with the pencil, it would always goop up at the corners. Liquid doesnt' do that.

I use the cheapy one from Cosmetics Plus - can't remember the brand name. Its in a little black bottle and has a fine brush for an applicator. Awesome!

Napoleon Perdis in Onyx - if its always sharpened, it goes on easy and its long lasting!

i love the gel ones, the best one i've come ac cross is by lo'real, its called hip cream liner. I looked everywhere for it here but no place stocked it, so i purchased it off ebay. Its so dark and gorgeous and doesn't smudge. I've used the napoleon one, and that dried out after a month, i've used mac and it wasnt so dark. The hip cream liner is the best one i've used and im never changing it! :P

I love Nutrimetics liquid liner and Clinique pencils. It's totally dependent on the look I am going for as to which one I will wear. Pencil is more a day thing where a liquid is a night thing for me.

The Napoleon gel eyeliner ROCKS IT! (I think it's called Equinox) You apply it with a brush. It's the perfect consistency, stays on and gives a precise line!

Gel liner beats both pencil & liquid hands down! I like the Bobbi Brown gel best

I've been a liquid liner devotee for EVER but now I feel as though I should be trying gel!!!

Seriously though, anything with a brush will give you a very defined and controlled look (which I like). I love liqud liner.

I absolutely second that - the Napoleon eyeliners are great, and the onyx is fantastic for a dramatic effect, and to smudge with eyeshadow for smoky eyes.

I usually use a liquid on the top lid ( I used to use a cheapy - "Australian Face" brand but now use the Bougois one ) and I prefer pencil on the bottom. I highly recommend any twist ones, you know, the ones you don't have to sharpen?

I agree with the gel liner!
I used the MAC one on my wedding day and didn’t get any smudges even though I teared up a bit. It is a bit difficult when you first apply it (you need an angle brush) but once you get the hang of its easy!

I like MAC or Avon "crayon" style eyeliners.

I have recently come across the Bourjois liquid eyeliner and it is the best i have used so far. It goes on quite finely if you need it to and lasts quite well, but i haven't ever used any more exxy liners or gel ones before. Don't know of any waterproof eyeliners though.

I tend to use the liquid for the upper eyelid and the pencils for the lower eyelid, as i dont want it to look too obvious on the bottom and i find it hard to be subtle with liquid.

I used to use Innoxa liquid liners - I bought it in black and purple :P it was actually like a pen to hold so very easy
i recently bought the covergirl line exact liquid liner which is more compact and i find that has even greater control. i prefer the ones where you don't have to dip the applicator in the liner ink --these ones have the ink come through the tip and glide on

i tend to use a pencil on lower lash line so i can smudge it a bit and the liquid on top lash line over the eyeshadow for a really defined look

but now i am intrigued by gel liners...
