Help me to think of a nice present please

Thu Jul 09, 2009 12:33 pm

When we came back from our 10 day holiday we were horrified to learn that one of our cats had gone missing.

Even worse, his collar was found on our lawn - it has our telephone number on it.

My husband and I made up over 300 leaflets and 20 laminated LOST posters and spent a cold night distributing them everywhere.

On tuesday I checked our phone messages and was happy to get one from a neighbour who said she had seen a cat like mine around her house... so I ran straight over but she wasn't home.

So I went to her neighbours house.

They said they didn't have him so I went home.

A few hours later they called to say that they DID have him, so I went over again.

And it was him. :D

I was and am very happy. :D

I would really like to give the first lady a nice gift for calling me. Without her I never would have got him back.

DH wants to give cash but I would like something more personal.

Do you have any good ideas?

I would bake her something- its very personal, but thats just me I'm a food person.

Does she have anything in her house/yard that may suggest what things she likes?

Well she has a really nice yard (with no cats in it) lol I checked.

She has no garden - just lawn... no clues.

A bottle of wine or champagne is usually appreciated. Or as Monica said you could bake something

I think a hamper of everything that has been suggested (depending on what your budget is of course)
A nice bottle of wine
Box of chocolates
Some nice home made biscuits or a packet of gourmet biscuits
A cute thankyou card and maybe a small potplant

Im really glad your pet is safe at home again.

When the lady 3 doors down saw my fur baby in her front yard after she had dug out of our backyard, then out of the neighbours backyard!, she took her in until we got home & were running up & down the street calling for her. The lady who took the dog in, didnt know which house the pup belonged to, so was unable to leave a note (and the silly girl who lives next door to us, claimed she'd never seen our dog before?!).
ANyway back to the point, we bought her a box of chocs & some flowers & i wrote a card just thanking her for her kind actions.

Bizarre and/or very mean.

Thanks for all the suggestions - I am getting to work now.

I'm giving a bottle of wine and a thank-you card and a framed pic of my kitty lol.
DH says I'm weird... I guess I am.

They can use the frame for a different pic and maybe years from now - after they've forgotten they will find the kitty pic behind their pic and remember how they reunited us. :P
