Its not bad, but I must admit I wouldnt want to live northside, as the traffic is ALWAYS bad, no matter what time of day, or day of the week it is. Thats just my personal opinion though....
If I had a choice we would live in Corinda/Graceville/Sherwood, its nice and close to major highways, trains, only 10km from the city, lovely area with gorgeous houses and much cheaper than northside

We have two dogs and one cat, which is making it hard to find nice, liveable rentals!

The plan is to rent for a while and once we've settled in and we know our way around, we can look for a place to buy.

Yeah I can understand that. FH wouldnt let me get a dog until we had our own place so I had to wait a few years, which was quite hard for me as my parents have had 3 dogs most of my life so very hard going from 3 dogs at once to none :(

i suppose it all comes down to how much you are willing to spend, and what you want as to which suburbs you should look at... like any capital city it changes depending on what side of town you are on.

Ohhh a new listing.. and it has a pool!!

Our requirements are: min 2 bedrooms, pet friendly with secure fence, close to transport, max rent $400 preferably
We hate traffic (one of the few benefits of living in Darwin!) so we'd do anything to avoid traffic.

If you say north suburbs are bad, then I will avoid them!

Different area, most of yours look to be northside-ish...

If the house is close to transport and it's more convenient, then we'll take public transport.

I live in Bundamba :D
Takes about 30min to drive there, think its about 40 on the train which is what FH does each day. If it is possibly Milton then I would be looking South/West, anything that is on the ipswich line for trains as that way you dont have to go through the city to get there.
