Hi Everyone, guess I should finally introduce myself, now that there is a 2013 thread!

I've been lurking a tiny bit since I got engaged in July this year. :)

We haven't set a date as yet but we are thinking March/April 2013. We are currently investigating venues.

Hi ladies, my man proposed on Tuesday!!! We're looking at a Spring 2013 wedding. Any suggestions for garden wedding AND reception venues in Melbourne?

Congratulations darling :)

May I suggest Roselyn Court...

We put our deposit on last week for June next year. It's a beautiful venue! Amazing gardens and beautiful decor. The service is also fantastic. We were so impressed we didn't bother to check any other places out. Mary Ann is lovely and answered all our questions and concerns.

We also considered Elizabethan Lodge but after I lodged an inquiry and spoke to someone, they promised the owner would call me back and never did...so I didn't bother with it.

Thank you! It's so exciting!!! I looked at Roselyn Court (online as I live in England!) and it certainly does look beautiful! I think it may be a little formal for what we're after and also a bit big! We'll only have about 40 people. I've emailed Elizabethan Lodge at your suggestion so will see if I have more luck at a reply than you did. It says a lot though I think when a venue doesn't bother to follow up... Also waiting to hear back from a few other places along the Great Ocean Road.

I think I'm being a bit premature though as I'll be living in England until April next year and am reluctant to book anything until I've been there in person and seen it. I'm just too excited and enjoy planning too much to wait until then!

Hello ladies!

We are recently engaged, and have decided on August 2013!

It feels a bit far away to start planning, but I suppose there is a lot to do so a bit of extra time is always a good thing.

We are looking at Melbourne CBD, we have shortlisted a few venues, but won't be in Melbourne until next year to go see some places.

Still looking at ceremony places (preferably indoors but not a church), so any suggestions in Melbourne CBD would be greatly appreciated.

Look forward to meeting everyone!

I'm hanging out to be able to plan properly but don't want to book a venue until we are in Australia and can see them in person! Won't be too long though, we've booked a one-way ticket to Melbourne and arrive 25th April next year and FH has just had the first part of his visa approved! Yay!!! Also, my Mum's coming to UK for Christmas so we'll start the dress hunting then!

Misspony, how have you found it so far planning everything from afar?

hi people

Well my date is oct 26 2013 - i really wanted to be marrie don Oct 30 but woul have had to wate another few more years...

Everyone has been telling me im starting too soon but all i can think of is how quick time goes -- its christmas already and then the first three months of the year we have about 8 birthdays, and then its easter and then tax time roles around adn then mor birthdays and then its christmas again adn then theres only 10 months to plan... Im rationalising i know

Anyway we have set the date, dont know about time but in the end we settled on the hystorical church near us, turns out his parents were married in the same church...

We have set the bridal party and thats it.... it was going to 100 people but Im thinking of dropping it down to 70/80...

the next big thing is the dress i think, and i will go look dresses in a few months....

^^ I second the two above comments - walk in the left, out the right.

I can finally officially join this thread. Our wedding is March 23rd, 2013 in Carisbrook, country Victoria. We've organized the location and accommodation (Lochinver Farm), the photographer (Steph Lee), and a few tiny little things.

I'll start a S&T in the next few days to really get into it, and show off some pics of the venue that I took when I stayed there... March 2013 seems aged away, and I get lots of the "wow, you're starting early!" comments, but it really isn't that far away. Once Xmas is over, it'll be less than a year before we know it!

wee that was our backup date hehe :D i'm only doing a S&T next yr march really i think, still feels too early :P

i got the whole "wow, you're starting already" comment a couple of times now, but with 14 months to go, booking the main stuff in was first priority. we booked the last Saturday in Feb for our venue, it was so lucky that it was the date we picked, as i had already booked the Church and made save the date cards, so i took it as a sign that this was the right place for our big day! April 2013 at this venue was already fully booked, which i though was pretty insane. Slow & steady is the way to go, all the fun begins next year with the dress shopping... eiiikkkk, so excited!
