Votive candles with lace?

Postby Abbey_Lou on Sat Sep 19, 2009 7:45 pm

I just purchased 60 frosted votive candles to put on our tables at the reception and some on the bridal table. I wanted to add some lace around them, (there is a picture of this floating around here somewhere), and was just wondering how I would do this? Just buy the lace from spotlight or something and stick it on?? Any ideas? TIA

There is a pic on Porcelains S+T thread of some pretty lace wrapped votives, i think she used double sided tape do do it.

I did find a tutorial here though!

That's all I'm doing Abbey... all our table bits & pieces are included in our venue cost, so I've told the decorator that I would like to put some black lace around her glass candle holders & she's totally cool with it! I got 10 metres of the PERFECT lace off ebay for about $4??

I made them as well. I bought my lace from Spotlight and used glue to stick the lace on. I made mine a bit different to some other people though, I can slide the lace off the holder when I am done as I glued my lace to itself rather than the holder. The heat can make double sided tape or glue come unstuck so I thought gluing the lace onto itself was the best bet :)

Im doing this too!

I am waiting for my candles to arrive and I have bought some black and white lace to play around with (black and white theme)

I was going to use a glue gun and stick the lace to the lace and then light one of the candles and see how it goes.

Once the candles arrive I will start playing

i made these too as you can see in my s&t.

i started with double sided tape but not long after it came unstuck so i went with super glue instead. it worked out well and i am very happy with the result.

there are so many choices of laces in spotlight (for my store it was in the same aisle as the ribbons) just make sure you get the right width. i got 3 different laces, one was the width of the glass holder, and the others were smaller so i had the starting from the bottom to about 2/3 up the holder and the same from the top too.

let me know how you go and post pics.

OK I am attempting to cover my votive candles with lace today, about to head off to spotlight and just wondering, did you girls buy lace that was pre cut like a ribbon, or just lace off a roll and cut it to size?? Im not sure which way to go?

I got the lace off the roll and just cut it too the size for my candles once I got home. Its my goal today to get another 10 done!
My lace has dips in the top and I worked out I need 4 dips on each candle.

I am using the 5min araldite as I found nothing else worked as well!!

These are mine so far:

As I've mentioned before Jodie they look STUNNING!! love them

I've made 45 centerpieces for our big day & I found craft glue was the best way to go. But I used double sided tape for the ribbon, as the glue left indentation marks on the ribbon & I'm a it fussy lol. I purchased 20m's of lace from ebay & just cut it to size. After you do a few Abbey Lou you get into a routine & find what works best for you.

Here's some pics of mine
