I am very new to this, we got engaged over Easter and have just started the venue search.
We had a look at a couple of the past few days and can not find anything that suits us, within our price range and our numbers. We want a simple but elegent venue, nice view of either the city, gardens or river. We looked at Customs House, but too expensive and a bit grander than we want. We loved the idea of the Stokehouse but we have too many people for their upstairs room, and not enough to justify a $20K minimum spend for the entire venue!!
If anyone has any ideas please let me know. We are very new to Brisbane as well so that is not making it any easier.
Numbers wise, we are 80-100 guests and wanting to keep under $12K for the reception.
sidonie wrote:aw Pommiebear, I looked at their website and although it actually seems like a nice venue from the inside, I just can't get over the idea of it being a brewery. When I think brewery I think smelly. It probably isn't and I drive past it a fair bit but i've never been inside.
That's my 2 cents. Not trying to offend. Just wanted to offer my honest opinion. And if it's what you really want, go for it!
50 haha!! Erm honestly $100 would be nice, up to $125 ish. $150 and $160 are good prices but not something I can afford if I'm buying a house also. I'd rather buy a house then spend on a wedding but if we are doing it we need to do it properly. The couple that wants everything but refuses to go into debt. I am selling a house with which I want the money to go into the next house so wedding will be saved other the next year or so.
Are you Brisbane based? What are your plans and must haves?
