Just a quick question, wondering if there are any local wedding magazines for the "Townsville"region mainly. I know there is "Duo" magazine that has the 2 bridal editions in November and February - are there any others? Also the best bridal expos?

Cassie - I am pretty sure that there are no wedding magazines for Townsville, I was looking for ages and just gave up. The townsville bullie, had a pull out that you can still see online. They had a lot of suppliers in there. I am not living in townsville but my photographer sent me a copy (she was the photographer for the shoot in the magazine). You might find some stuff in there. There is also a Townsville weddings website, I am not sure of the web address of it though.

Hi Megsmay7
We changed from the venue because of price and convienience. We absolutely loved the venue but didnt want to have to pay someone to come in and decorate on the day and didnt want to have to ask family to do it for us. We also added up the cost of hiring a caterer, hiring tables, eskys, buying cups/glasses, table clothes, alcohol, hire of a ute/truck to make sure evevrything was in and out smoothly in time etc etc and it worked out we would be saving money if we switched venues.
I was like you and had my heart set on the Community Centre but in the long run we wanted to make it as stress free as possible and it just wasnt happening.
The council wont allow you to get into the community center until after the yoga class that is there on a saturday morning (so it limited our setting up time) and then you have to be packed up all equipment off the premesis and have the venue cleaned, vacuumed, mopped, toilets ect by midnight, so it meant that our guest would have to leave at 10:30ish to be able to allow all of the regulations to happen. I guess if we really wanted to spend the extra money and have someone else do the decorations (setup and packup) and pay for a cleaner etc it would have been wonderful, but in the long run we couldnt justify the extra money that could have been spend somewhere else, plus hubby was worried about running out of alcohol and how we would have to get more and asking our guests to leave very early etc etc.
I am going to have a look at that website you recommended aswell. Good luck with the planning.

Cmr,
I think things have changed a little now. we have the hire from 8am until midnight. They have told us we can end the wedding at like 11pm, and then clear out our tables etc by midnight, and then there are set cleaners that come in at about 12.30am (stuff that!!) and clean the place. You cant hire your own cleaners or do it yourself anymore.
My mums friend is really wanting to get into wedding planning, so I am going to be her first customer (and hopefully save some bucks) and get her to set the place up, and clear down after. We planned on leaving at 10.30pm anyway, and I dont see any reason why the guests should stay after we leave, so we will have it known that the reception ends at 11pm on the dot.
It is going to cost a lot, but I am already buying decorations etc now, so that it wont be such a burden come closer.
On a more exciting note, I chose my dress today! Its an Alfred Angelo from his disney collection (i swear i did not know this until after i had it on) and it is called a Tiana. So happy with it, which is odd since it is nothing like my old dream dress haha

That is an awesome looking cake! Stacey is absolutely fabulous, she is making our cake toppers as well. Her cake tastes divine I cannot wait to try our cake. We are having four different flavours.

Let us know who you decide :D

Hi Kristy02
There are afew other places that would be able to make that style cake in Townsville. Just to keep them in mind, they are. Happy Cakes, Cupcake Crazy (doesnt just do cupcakes) and we are getting ours from cakes on carthew and they have been absolutely fantastic and have keeps of photos of there work for you to look at and are really helpful with designing things exactly how you want them. Just some ideas anyway.
Good luck.

Were you after something like this for your centerpeices??????????????
Riverside Gardens Community Centre.jpg

I have hunted around and have found a few different companies that can supply all of the equipment for this centerpeice. I was really wanting something like this for my wedding and am so tempted to try and find the extra money to do this............ if anyone else wanted them so that i could hire them out it would be even more temptation for me to get them. Let me know.

Just thought I would post on here, I have looked at eventsdirect.com.au and found some awesome centrepieces involving orchids, floating candles and silk... definitely looking into them, and seeing if i can source them cheaper anywhere else but so far nope! for $36 a centrepiece to own, thats not too bad in my books!

I had looked into Happy Cakes and I hate to say bad things about a business but she wasn't easy to deal with I had to ask her 4 times if I could book an appointment and then unfortunately she wasn't available at any time that my partner and I could do so I had to rule her out.

Hi ems_townsville,
How exciting 29 days to go!!!! :)

I picked up a bargain today and wanted to share....

4pk of 20x20cm round mirrors in homemart for $5.99, yep under $6 for 4, they are smaller than what I wanted but couldn't go past them at that price :D

Hi Kristy02,
Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with Leonie from Happy cakes she is so talented and her cakes are always gorgeous, she is creating our cake and I can't wait to see it :)

Hope all of your planning is going well!

Hi other TSV Brides! I was hoping someone would be able to help me with an issue I am having.
We are having our wedding on the 23rd June next year at the riverside community centre, and part of the booking requires us to exit and clear our wedding decorations away by midnight for the cleaners to come in and do their job. Does this happen at many other places, and does anyone know what to do? I can always just have family members stay after the wedding and pack it all away but I feel bad, and I want them to be able to enjoy themselves and not feel obligated to stay the whole time (and sober) to be able to pack it all away!
Is there companies in Townsville that do this type of thing? (It will be taking packing centrepieces away, clearing tables and stacking them in the office room for collection next morning, taking down lanterns and fairy lights outside etc etc.
We love the riverside community centre, so please dont suggest finding somewhere else - we want it there no matter what. I just want to know what I have available for me for the big day, or if it will fall on family help.
Thanks girls.

Hi Megs,

We are getting married at the Casino (next Sat YAY :) ) and we also needed someone to take our deco's away. We are having Melanie from 'Beautiful Brides' set up our decorations along with some we are hiring, and they will come in after ceremony to take them all away. I can then collect my stuff from her later. He prices are reasonable too.

We tried other companies, but some are sooo expensive!

Hope this helps.
