Hi all,
I’ve had great fun reading these threads the past few months. I am a bride to be as well :D

The main reason for my post is regarding wedding cakes and the availability of them in Toowoomba. I am a very good novice cake decorator and have been thinking about starting a small business making a range of basic 1-3 tier wedding cakes and cupcakes. Because it would be a home business (all legalities and health permits are fine) the overheads would be very minimal hence being able to provide a cake/cupcakes at around half the price of many other cake stores in town.

I would have a standard range of shapes, flavours, icings, colours and decorations that could be tailored to each individual wedding, but to keep the costs down most styles would be simple, elegant and a smaller variety offered than a standard cake store.

Sorry about the long post, but what I would like is the brides of Toowoomba’s opinions :) . Would you consider buying wedding cake/cupcakes made from top quality ingredients, but simply decorated if you were paying around half the price of other companies?

Thanks very much ladies and happy planning

I'd be interested in hearing some their prices as well. I've just booked my silk flowers with this company: http://www.floralproductions.com.au and their flowers are gorgeous. Just for comparison sake!

I just wanted to comment again how great Spot Colour are and complelty FH fool proof. FH went in reluctnaly this morning to get our envelopes, and he was very impressed with how quick and easy it was to get what we wanted, for a good price and without any of the "boys" seeing him.

So far I'm settled on getting our flowers through Premier Caine.

How is everyone else going with their plans? FH and I are just bout done, except for finalsing suits, jewellry and a playlist for the reception. I have my make up trial with Ella Bache in a fortnight, so I'll let you know how that turns out. Not sure about when I'll get a hair trial, as Jan would be more reasonable, however when I got my hair cut the other day at the hairdresses, the lady decided to straighten my hair and $60 I walked out with a trim and straight hair, but I was quoted $65-$75 for hair for the wedding so I'm a little concenred that maybe the prices have gone up and if they have I might rebook elsewhere. How long before the wedding is everyone else planning to get a hair trial?

I've updated my show and tell heaps. But not too much going on. Waiting on my hair piece and bracelet to arrive. Also waiting on my veil. I'm talking to a supplier about save the dates, so they're in the works. I'm really just gathering a heap of ideas for the reception and ceremony. Thank you Martha Stewart.

Hi Girls,

I finally become a Mrs on saturday and it was the most perfect day. Everything went so smoothly and I cannot recommend our suppliers more!
Here is a list of who we used, we were just so impressed with all of them.

Celebrant - Joan Kavanagh (she did a great job easing FH nerves)
Reception Venue - Middle Ridge Golf Club on the deck (absolutely amazing, great service, yummy food and relax atmosphere)
Cake and Favour Cookies - Wicked Nic's (the cake was perfect and the cookies were so delicious and looked fantastic)
Make Up - Sarah from Champagne Brides (she did an amazing job)
Flowers - Deane's Roses (the flowers were really important to me and they were absolutely stunning)
Photographer - Darren from CKMetro (see below - Darren is an amazing photographer!!)
Music - Dohnanyi String Trio (beautiful music)

Here is a link to our photographers blog where he's put up a couple of photo.

I haven't posted a lot on this forum over the last 10 months but have followed your stories and recommendations closely so thank you for all your help.
If you have any question about our suppliers let me know.

Hi Ladies

I dont know if I really fit in Toowoomba section but I am getting married at Woodlands of Marburg, Marburg November 2010. I have booked Toni Snell as our wedding photographer and are very happy with our choice, she was fantastic in person. I have also booked Anna from Analiese Designs mobile hair & make up artist. I highly recommend Anna, my sister used her only 2 weeks ago for her wedding ( ceremony at Japanese gardens & reception at Middle Ridge Golf Club) and she was great, really down to earth and did a beautiful job ( i booked her on the spot for my wedding!). I have also booked Gemma from Peaches & Creme for make up. I have also contacted a lady who is making my STD cards, invitations and OOS Booklets. She is based at Helidon and does a lovley job ( she also made my sisters) we met her at the wedding expo at City Golf Club last year.

Can anyone recommend any videographers? Or is there anything that I am missing? Still 12months out but I am guessing the time will fly by.......

Thanks :D

Wow Nik84, the photos are amazing and it looks like you had an amazing day. You look gorgeous. We wanted Darren to do our photos, but by the time I got around to ringing him he was already booked out. Congratulations to you and your DH.

Bride Bec, Toni Snell's work is a fantastic, lucky you on nabbing her :D Sounds like you're on track for your wedding next year. We're not having a videographer, so can't help you there. Have you started the fun task of dress shoping?

Hi Guys I am new to this but after reading I thought I would let you know that I was lucky enough to be able to book Darren from ckmetrophotos - http://www.ckmetrophotos.com.au for our wedding in September after seeing Nik84's pictures WOW - I am now so excited. After meeting him he is the nicest guy and goes out of his way and he is super super creative. We found him originally when my parter and I got some boudoir photos taken he blew us away. I am in need of a good video person if anyone knows one one. We are having our reception at Gips. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Pinklilli. We are happy to have Toni, there are some really lovely photographers around it is hard to decide!

Havent started dress shopping yet, will probably start after Xmas. The shop next to Roberts Menswear looks good. I dont really know what I am after though :o ............

I found this great site below that sells iron transfers for brides shirts etc. I am going to get one for myself, 2 bridesmaids and my mum for morning of wedding. I thought they would look great in pics.

Hi Girls.

Well everything is coming together slowly.

My invitations should be posted this week. :-) what a relief - we had them all done and they were printed with a line missing :?
Went into panic bridezilla mode... but CrackerPrint are onto it and have fixed them up and they look stunning...... oooo so xciting.

I picked up my veil the other day... and my bridesmaid dresses arrive next fortnight... and my bridal shower is coming up on the 14th... I should really put some show and tell photos or something..

Anyone else's wedding coming up soon?
