This is a great idea

FH and I are getting married at Avica, having the reception there as well. Its so beautiful. As soon as FH and I looked around the place we got this special feeling that "it was the place for us".

Looking forward to talking to more GC gals :D :D

We are still trying to work out our details, but so far about the only thing we've agreed on is getting married on the Gold Coast. *L*

Church: Either Anglican Burleigh or Anglican Southport (in their outdoor chapel).

Reception: So far options are Flames, Kurrawa SLSC (or Burleigh if we just go ultra casual and just book a table by the window cause we can't do functions on a Saturday there!!), Self Catering at St John's Hall. But we are having a church hall cake/champaigne reception so whatever option we have for dinner/lunch will be less formal anyway. We just want to share a meal with our guests and pay for it, since most will be travelling from Interstate.

I'm getting married at Sea World Nara Resort. ceremony in the garden over looking the water and reception in a function room on right at the water edges. I looked at a few places before i choose Sea World Nara Resort.
There are some nice places at the Gold Coast especially if your looking at having a beach theme.

Yeah some GC. I was starting to think I was the only one.

I never thought about Sea World. FH and I were going for a certain look and feeling and we got both at Avica. Did you girls get the same feeling when you decided? :D

Hi,
We live in Brissie, but we're getting married at Cedar Creek Estate Winery and Vineyard, Mt Tamborine. We looked at Sea World, but it was way past our buget! We also looked at several places here in Brisbane, but Mt Tamborine was the place for us. We both fell in love with it.

The Cedar Creek Estate is beautiful, and the food is divine!!!
I organised my BM's Hens party there... the day was perfect.

My FH and I are getting married just up the road at Avalon Wedding Gardens Mt Tamborine.

I went to a wedding on Saturday and it was held at the Mt Tamborine Botanical Gardens... I didnt even know it existed! Very pretty place.

FH and I were going to get married at Tamborine Gardens same place as my MOH but changed our minds after we saw Avica. Its a little bit more than Tamborine but we think that its worth the extra cost. And what makes it even better our mums love it as much as we did. We are going down this weekend to pay our desposit.

So we are very excited about that.

You can probably tell I'm a little over excited, I can finally tick something off my list. Yeah.

Am glad you are booking Avica, it looks beautiful.

I loved it how in Gold Coast Weddings Magazines, some grooms were arriving in helicopters. Very James Bond!

Love their horse and carriage there as well.

I think you will have a wonderful wedding there Kritaljay.

We looked at six venues before we decided on ours. You are right, you definitely get a feeling, like butterflies in your stomach, when you know you have to get married and/or have reception at a certain place.

We wanted to get married there near the Wild Duck Lake.. but in the end we thought so many of our guests are probably flying up and it would just add extra costs for them hiring cars and then they'd have to either stay up in Tamborine or face driving back to GC late in the evening (and after a few drinks). We didn't think it would be too good for his elderly parents driving up there and back in the dark either.

While we're not going for a destination wedding as such I think in the end we'll go for simpler venue so we can do a few other things with our guest over a weekend instead of just one day.

We looked at Avica and it was beautiful, but in the end we decided we really want an Anglican church wedding.

Lincar - thanks for that. I get all the GC mags and cut out all the Avica stuff and put them in my little book of wedding things. My Mum and I saw the horses and carriage the last time we were down there and its more beautiful in person. The helicopter is getting re vamped at the moment, we are thinking of having it for our boys arrival. We think its a great idea that they get to make a little entrance themselves. Its his wedding too. :D

We have confirmed that our meeting will be this Sunday morning. Cant wait.

That would be so awesome for the boys to arrive in helicopter. I would definitely do that if I was you. You only get married once, buggar it, go for it! What a grand entrance it will be. Absolutely love the idea.

Am excited for you having the meeting this Sunday.

In Gold Coast Bulletin's Tuesday Magazine today there was a wedding covered. While the bridal party were having their photos taken, the bride & groom had hired an Austin Powers and Dame Edna impersonator to entertain the guests.

Has now got me thinking about surprising everyone by hiring a comedian or something like that while we are having our photos taken. Or is that a bit OTT? I am also now thinking about surprising FH by having fireworks at the end of the night. God, I am really going OTT now!

I have posted in Q&A:

viewtopic.php?t=60199

Have any of you ordered cheap chair covers for your wedding ceremony and/or reception?

It is still undecided whether we will have them. But, if we do, I am not forking out a lot of money.

Can anyone recommend somewhere that hires them out cheap please?

Thanks

Hi Lovely Ladies!!!

We are getting Married at Tamborine Gardens!!! I knew I wanted to get married there from the very first time that I saw it on the internet! It is just perfect!!! We will be having the ceremony in the chapel and the reception in the Starlight Room. I cannot wait. Time seems to be ticking down a little quicker now!!!

Kylie-maree - are you going off site at all to get photos taken? Tamborine Gardens has beautiful gardens, but I want to get some 'mountain' shots too!

Hiya Girls,

Just wanted to know where you are staying or stayed on the night before your wedding and the night of your wedding.

My parents and my BM's (hopefully all of them) are going to stay at Avica the night before our wedding. The boys are looking at staying at the Oasis the night before (it has a monorail to the casino). I'm trying to work out where FH and I can stay the night of our wedding. We were going to stay up at Tambo but FH thinks it will be a bit fair, he suggests that we stay down the coast and then go to Tambo for a couple of night before we leave for our honeymoon.

Suggestions would be great. :D

It looks like we will be getting married here as well, just waiting for the 2008 packages and prices to be sent out and then the decision will be made
