Welcome and congratulations to all the new brides to be!!!!! :)

Well, it looks like I have found the perfect cake place to do our wedding cake! Amelia's Cakes!!!!! I ordered cake samples from her and we just had a taste test. SCRUMPTIOUS and YUM YUM YUM!!!!!!!   FH says it tastes really really good! Soooooo much better than the other place I ordered samples from! That is a good sign from him as he doesn't normally tell me something tastes this good! I will be calling her tomorrow to let her know that I need her to make my cake :bdance: Now just to decide what the cake will look like! But I already have some idea! It will be 2 tier and the tiers will be separated by a gold cake stand.

The food is great and it is so easy.
I also find I am saving money on not eating out or buying lunch at work, I think LnE is great value for money.

Thanks, most of the times I am so happy with myself and other times I get really down that im not working hard enough, like right now as I sit here eating chocolate.
I am sure you will do great too, I find it helps to exercise with fh, quality time together and such.

Hi Ladies,
I'm a cake maker/decorator in Canberra and if anyone is interested in a consultation and tasting, just let me know.

Hi

Have you tried the cakes from Cakes of your dreams in QBN? I have heard they are delicious too?

I have tried them but I am still going to stick with my decision to use Amelia's Cakes.

I found my wedding dress today, I am so excited.

Went out to affordable bridal to look for bridesmaid dresses and just happened to be talking to the owner about my dream wedding dress and showed her a photo and she tells me that she got my dress in the day before and hadn't even unpacked it yet.
She went and got it and it fitted perfect and looked gorgous.
I ordered it in, in a size smaller cause I am losing weight and the dress couldn't be altered. Am not worried tho, this will be the push I needed to get motivated. I need to lose 10 kilos in 7 months, I have lost 19 in the past 18 months so I know I can do it.
And it was $500 less then my budget!!! Perfect!!!!

Ahhh I am so happy.

On a not so happy note my junior bridesmaid is being a pain in the *** and hates every dress I like, o well at least I am taken care of.

Hi Bride2Be,

I haven't personally used Amanda for wedding shots, but she looks great. My use was for pre and post pregnancy shots.

She is fabulous and down to earth

Packages are very reasonable aswell (well I think)!

Hi girls,

thought I'd join in for a bit.

I too have a quote from sugar and slice for our wedding cake which was quite reasonable. I would however like to do a taste test at some point beforehand, but we have plenty of time for that.

I do have a questions for all those planning at the moment- we are stuggling to find affordable, classic cars that will hold our whole wedding party in. Needs to fit 8 people as FH would like to travel with everyone between reception and ceremony but there doesn't appear to be a great deal of variety in Canberra. I myself would be happy with the Galilee mini bus and then all the profits will go towards foster children.....

Hi Guys!
Being a newbie(ish) to Canberra, I am hoping anyone has some recommendations for drycleaners? I just got my dress back after spending 3 months and 3 hundred dollars at a drycleaner to find it still dirty! I'd like to take it elsewere for a second opinion on if it could be gotten any cleaner. Whilst it was extremely dirty when I dropped it in and I understand it will never be as new, it is still very dirty and I am very disappointed! Can anyone help?

To the girl looking for a dry cleaners - have you tried cleaning it yourself? My friend was quoted $400 to clean her dress so she put it in the bathtub and used Sunlight soap - it came out good as new! She said it was pretty dirty so that might be something you could try?

Re pressing a dress you got in the post - I would probably get a dressmaker/bridal shop to do it as they would have a lot of experience.
