OMG! There's a Part 3 for the Canberra thread!!!!!

Thanks EmFive!

I had my hair trial on Friday night and I was very very happy with it! I am having Mira from Obsess Hair Studio do my hair :D I am now going to organise a makeup trial :) This is with Peta Borck (mrscampbell on the forum recommended her). *fingers crossed* cos she is just so easy to deal with etc! So friendly and helpful!

I freaked out when I refreshed the page and Canberra - Part 2 was locked!! Haha

Kaywoman that's so exciting!! Do you have an estimated cost for your hair and make-up? I'm trying to find a good hairdresser in Canberra... but they're all a bit... I dunno.... :? Where did you find Mira?

Make up - Peta Borck - $60 a face. http://www.petaborck.com/

Hair - Mira from Obsess Hair Studio - $70 for the trial, $150 on the day. Bridesmaid will be between $80 - $140 depending on the hairstyle. There's a $30 travel fee. http://www.actweddings.com.au/AirbrushMakeup.htm. I had contacted Steven Lloyd (Zoe Barton had recommended me to him when I was enquiring about hair and makeup - Zoe Barton Barton no longer does hair services) and he's not available for my date so recommended me to Mira.

Hi all,

Kaywoman - I have also booked Mira so is great to see your pics, your hair looks great, so shiny. Glad to hear she is good.

I ordered my dress last week, knew it was the one as soon as I tried it on. It is Maggie Sottero Autumn in silk. It made my body shape look fantastic (which I can tell you it is not, my curves aren't exactly in the right places). The ladies at Brides of Manuka were great.

Now I have my dress it somehow feels more real and like I am actually getting married, me not someone else. Very excited now.

Where are you all getting jewellery from?

And does anyone know of a place that would hire out real plants for ceremony venue decorations, am after a few topiary rose but really anything that will look pretty.

I basically wash, dry, brush my hair and walk out the door. I was actually a bit worried when I showed up at Mira's telling her that I don't know much about what I want for my hair (other than showing her the pics of a hair trial I did when I was in HK). I found Mira to be so friendly and I felt totally at ease.

Woohoo for your dress! The dress does make things more real!!!!!

Re: jewellery - I got my tiara when I was in HK. I am thinking of getting a few crystal bead hairpins to put in the bun so there's a bit of bling in it :) I figure I won't be wearing my veil all day and maybe not my tiara either. I did buy a necklace and earrings when I was in HK too but wondering if it might be a bit too much! Might look for simple but elegant earrings

Had my first major change of mind on the weekend when I decided I hated our centrepieces. They just didn't go with our theme anymore.
I talked fh around and now we have bought crystal candle holders off eBay. They were a bit expensive but I love them and know I won't change my mind again.
We now have less the 200 days to go and it is all feeling so real and exciting!!!
Hope everyone else is going well!!!

I've got an appointment with the florist on Wednesday morning, a brazilian on Friday morning and I am going to book for a spray tan trial for the 13th (I've got my final fitting on 14th and I think it'll be good to see the whole thing).

Also have to start paying for stuff :(

We haven't paid for anything in full yet.

There are still quite a few loose strings floating around but it is slowly coming together so it's all very exciting! :)

What I still need to do:

spray tan trial
makeup trial
decorations for reception
music for reception
seating plan
nice pens for guest book and marriage certificate signing
clutch/small bag to carry necessities
nails
alternative for wedding ceremony location
flowers - bouquets and buttonholes
ask people to help - drivers etc
garter
list of vendor phone numbers to give to bridesmaid just incase
PAY FOR EVERYTHING

I just got my flowers organised today! :bdance:

Flowers will be lilac freesias and white singapore orchids.

I'm getting a medium sized cascade bouquet, sister (bm) will get a bouquet without all the 'fluff' (no tails), 3 buttonholes for groom and fathers, 3 dress corsages for the mothers and having table decorations. The table decorations will be round bowls with purple vanda orchids swirled around or plucked into the bowl and filled with water.

All up - $675. Not bad considering I was expecting my bouquet to be about $300 by itself depending on what I was getting.

I went with Botanics on Jardine. They're close to where I'm getting ready (Hotel Realm) and it's been mostly good stuff I've 'heard' (read) from people here etc.

Juliana was very helpful. I left it very very late (only just made an appointment last week) and I had no idea what I wanted. I was actually envisioning roses (as I'm getting married at OPH gardens) but she told me that for my shape and the shape of the dress, it wouldn't suit. I showed her a pic of my dress, described my bm dress and she showed me a pic of what she thinks would look good.

How's ur planning going OA? I had a look at your S&T. Everything looks fantastic! When I was at the 6 month mark, I was still rather cruisy about things LOL. In fact, I didn't look for my wedding dress or transport till after I got back from holidays in January! I was just so relaxed that I would find something
