Typical Australian Wedding traditions

Not really sure if this is traditionly australian? but men taks ladies garter off with mouth and chucks it for boys to catch, and the lady takes a hankie out of males pants pocket with mouth for ladies to catch. just like throwing the bouquet same concept. has to be the right crowd and people tho....

I think most of the aussie traditions stem from our english heritage so there probably isn't much difference between the two in terms of actual things people do. Love your stubbie holder idea! Maybe some native australian flowers? A lot of australian natives look great dried so you would be able to take them with you (so long as british customs doesn't mind??) I have also seen some AWESOME lamington wedding cakes... (or is that tacky?).. there was a pic on this forum once of it..

Australian flowers on your cake e.g. wattle, waratah, gumnuts etc. look terrific. You could even incorporate some of these in bouquets. Opals are Aussie, these could be bridesmaids pressies.

I would suggest you to make arrangement of combination of both Australian & English culture in various aspects like food, dance & decoration. It would represent a great wedding and will be considered as inclusion of two cultures. I am sure It sounds great and this wedding would be memorable for all your relatives.

Off topic but are you having to be in England for 21 days prior to your wedding to do your bands and display them?
We were looking at getting married there but I don't want to be there 3 weeks then have a weekday wedding and have to come back to Oz & work with no honeymoon.
As for themes - Lamington cake is a great idea which we'll probably go with. Stubble holders are a must!
