When I read these posts about makeup, I always see where a lot of girls say that they are going to get a particular brand of product to be applied on the wedding day. This appears to be more important than the person applying it. I can tell you now that if I gave this product to my husband to apply, well, you get the picture.
We once did a seminar (we do quite a few for our girls to gain experience and learn about new products, styles etc) where I got 2 of my makeup artists with similar talent and style to do a makeup using 2 different products. One used a very cheap range that most people look down on(although their mascara is fabulous) and the other used a trendy expensive range. At the end I asked our very experienced makeup artists to tell us which was which. Most couldnt tell the difference and the rest picked the wrong one.
I dont think that There is one range on the market that covers everything a makeup artist needs. Women get very "protective/snobby/ " about the product range they use. It is like "I have chosen the best range on the market and I cant understand why you dont conform as well". Every range has its supporters and every range has good and not so good performance products in it. In most cases, you would be surprised what ingredients the products contain!! Some $80 products will cost less than $5 to produce and yet the name brand will get you in every time.
Unfortunately being in this industry, we know far too much sometimes which can be a help and a hindrance. However, I just want to let you all know that it is not ONLY the brand of makeup that makes a good makeup, it is equally the skill of a good makeup artist.
I have had many girls come to me looking for work, just out of a makeup academy. They have a certificate to prove that they have done the course (which has cost them a considerable amount) but unfortunately every girl who does the course gets a certificate!! Which means that some who should fail are out there doing wedding makeups now - so beware and be careful.
Hope I have shed some light on "product vulnerability".
