I have never had acne before in my life, even as a teenager, but in the last few months I have noticed a funny rash on my cheeks. So I went and saw my GP about it and he referred me to a dermatologist who told me I had acne and has put me on antibiotics called Minomycin. He has prescribed them to me for 3 months and said that it is a long process to clear them up, but that my skin should be better in time for my wedding (in 6 months!!). :?

To be honest it is kind of annoying being on antibiotics for so long, but if it is the only way to clear my skin in time for the wedding than I am willing to do anything. As it looks like you have a little less time, I would suggest you go straight to your GP and ask for his advice, he will usually put you on antibiotics for about 2-3weeks.

Good luck!!! :D

for a non-surgical tx, i actually find the body shops sage and comfrey blemish gel pretty good. (and yeah i had bad pimples when younger and have tried everything but roaccutane), when you feel one coming - just keep putting loads in that area - it cools down the inflammation and prevents those awful whiteheads appearing. all the best!

Hi Hosookyan
I have been one of those lucky people that avoided the whole acne dilemma as a teen, however my son didn't.
When he was about 13 he started getting acne. I tried the doctor and his remedies didn't work, so I turned to herbal remedies and the such. I read in a book somewhere that oranges worked. So my dear boy decided to eat about 4-6 oranges a day. Within 2 weeks his skin was as clear as a bell. Now I know not everythng works the same on all people, but it worked for him and his skin is clear to date.

Depending on how long you have i would get some minomycin from your gp. I had bad acne about two years ago and finally i was given this and within two weeks it had started to clear up. It did take about 3-4 months for it to completely go but you could tell the difference in two weeks so it might be worth a shot.

In general drink loads of water, eat well - loads of fruit and veg and try and avoid fried, fatty or preservative ladden foods. Cleanse twice a day with whatever you are already using and use a light moisturiser. try and stay away from makeup till you wedding if possible as it just makes it worse.

If you have less that 8 weeks i would avoid changing your cleansers and skin routine too much as you dont know what effect it will have. stick to things you know.

Don't get the injection - it can go terribly wrong and that would be far worse than acne in your photos.

If it isn't gone by the wedding get your makeup person to cover it and remember you will be beautiful with or without the acne (and your FH clearly agrees with me as he wants to marry you and has seen your acne!) Try not to stress as this may be what is causing the acne.

You can try antibiotics from your GP. Or you could try cream that has antibiotic (clindamycin) and a mild peroxide based ingredient that dries your skin slightly to stop acne. Good if you don't usually get bad acne but want to calm down or prevent mild acne. The one i've used is called Duac Once Daily Gel. It worked for me!
