Hi Ladies,

I'm looking for suggestions for where I can go looking for bridesmaid dresses in Melbourne? I'm trying to find something around the $200 mark, short in length, nothing too over the top...

Let me know if you've strolled across something in your travels...

I'm booking my DJ & MC this week.... YAY!!!!!

Hey Ashling! We seem to have similar taste LOL (I saw you have booked Bruce Harrison as your DJ - we are meeting with him tomorrow night and will most likely book him). I am heading to Lady Stardust this weekend to try on some wedding Alfred Angelo dresses. Been looking at the AA collection online and have a few styles in mind. Have you found a wedding dress yet?

The AA bridesmaid dresses look really nice. From what I understand, you pick the style you want, the colour and the fabric. And yeah, I think they are all around the $200 mark.

Got my bridesmaid's earrings, got another headband for me, ordered my flowers and mum found her dress! Holy moly!

Oh and I chose the paper for our stationery!

I am going to run out of things to do long before my wedding I think...

awesome work! i'm taking the girls down this w/e to try on their dresses... i hope they like them :) i've picked out their accessories but i'm leaving it as a surprise for them.
i checked out a local for the flowers yesterday, but it wasn't a winner... i'm thinking that i might go with one that my future brother in law used, and they did a great job... so i think it might be best to stick with what I know works ... plus the flowers we've selected are completely different so i won't be "copying" things.
choosing the stationary is next... i'd rather be doing it now and take my time to get things right than rushing at the end of things when im sure i'll have my hands full with all sorts of other stuff!

YAY to progress :)

eik sorry, i'm useless in that department.. i don't really have a "budget"
are you DIYing a lot of things, you can certainly save on those things? swap dessert with your wedding cake? depends were your costs are.. or just give the puppy dog eyes to your other half and ask him to stay with the $10K budget lol

The following is my budget - i have Budgeted cost and actual costs

Item

Bride
Dress $1,000
Shoes $ 100
Underwear $ 100
Hoop -
Veil $ 50 but i brought it on ebay for $15
Jellewery $ 250 (but for everyones jellewery)
Make Up $ 500 (for everyones makeup and hair)
Nails $ 40
Other health and beauty $ 100
Gift for Groom $ 100 (dont know if this will be happening yet)

Total $2,250

Groom
Suit $ 150 (he wants to buy it)
Shoes $ 80
Hat $ 20
Glasses $ 80 (for all)
Gift for bride $ 100 (Dont know if we are going ot do this)
Others $ 50

Total $480

MOH and BM x 2 - Jr BM and Flower girls x 2
Bridesmaids are buying there own dress - but this might change, I might be able to get the dress cheaper and then they can pay for hair/make up

Grooms Men x3
They are buying own suit
Hat $ 80
Glasses under grooms budget
Other items $ 50

Total $ 130

Paige boy (our son)
Suit Buy $55
Shoes $20
Hat and Glasses $30

Total $ 105

Ceremony

Church insurance $ 55
Admin fee $ 55 Paid
Minister $ 200
Flowers $ 55
Organist $ 90 (might just scrap this though)
Paperwork $100
Church $220

Total $775

Reception
Deposit $300 (returned 1 week after ewedding)
Room hire $190
member cost $11 (if we become members for a year then the room cost goes from 350 to 190)
Meal 3 course meal $31.90 x 80 $ 2552
bar tab $1500 - (parents have offered to put $1000 on bar but would rather not factor that in just yet)
Champaign $300

Total $ 4853

Flowers $500

Photographer i budgeted $1500 but got it for $600 so i saved $900 on this

DJ $500

Transport $200 (have friends with cars but i dont know if its needed)

Stationary $ 200 ( I with be DIY'ing it)

Cake $ 150 (friends and family have offered to make it)

Kids Table $ 100

Decorations $500

Lolly Buffet $150 (I have just about everything but the lollies)

Other items $70

so the total cost is $ 11, 063

There are a few things that will need to be changed - I know that the cost of hair and make up will double becaus ei have myself, 3 bm, 1 jr bm, 2 flower girls and i was hoping to get my mum and F mother in law done as well. I told the Bm that they wouldnt have to pay more than $200 becauase i think any more is way too much, i want floor length dresses because then we dont have to worry about shoes - however i might be able to get the dresses as a friend is going to China soon - and then all the BM have to do is pay for hair and make up (hope that made sense)

Where there is actual cost thats what i know it will cost, everythign else is esitmates..........

Is your FH wanting to cull the budget because you're honestly not going to be able to afford $11k, or because he is looking at $11k thinking 'god damn that seems like a lot of money'? You have oooodles of time to save up the extra cash (we're putting away $100 a week each, which means our $10k budget is done and dusted in 1 year)

I think you need to sit down with your FH and show him what you've budgeted and compare that with what some ladies here have spent (see the 'What you really spent' thread). Everything you're budgeting for is really reasonable, especially your reception and photography which are often the killers.

Fh is thinking "god damn thats alot of money" he would be happy if we get married, get the presents and send everyone off with a happy meal lol -- yeah since i have so long its good because i can do a little at a time, spending a small amount each week -- also since IM not working its only my FH income we are living on.

We have sat down -- talked about the budget and guest list, hes looking to cut 20 people so its down to 60, which really means it will just be mainly my family and no friends

thanks for all your help --- i do have alot of things already from the engagement party - and yes i am thinking of selling whatever i can afterwards since its just really a waist of space keeping it all.

i really havent thought about decorations yet, just candels and things i have from the engagment party.

My mum brought me a wedding dress online through Ebay - it was less than $30 so just seeing the quality...... if i dont like it i can alwys sell it and put that money towards a dress.
