Selling your dress

Sun Feb 03, 2013 7:45 pm

Just wondering if any one has or is thinking about selling their wedding dress? and how you did/are/will do it? One thing I'm a little worried about is that my dress is custom made, so not a typical size 12 which might make it hard to sell.

I understand that a lot of people might not want to sell their dress for many reasons but I've been thinking a lot about it lately and I would love for someone else get use out of my dress. I would never keep it expecting my daughter to wear it and I also wouldn't want it to become a dress up. With the money I get from selling the dress I plan on buying a piece of jewellery or designer handbag-something that I could keep and hand down.

I would do it in a heartbeat - but probably I won't get around to it!

I'll be selling mine - no doubt about it. I'm not a very sentimental person, plus our house is way too small to be storing something so big. Luckily I haven't needed to make any sizing alterations too, so it's a stock standard size 12 still.

Will be very interested to hear which sites are the best to sell on!

Same! Mine is at the dry cleaners at the moment and once I get it back I will be trying to sell it.

Any tips people have on the wording etc would be very helpful. Mine is a US 8 which is pretty much an AU 12, it has been altered but my seamstress has made all alterations so as they can be easily reversed. How would I word that? I don't want it to sound like they're just tacked on but want to point out that nothing has been cut, so it would be easy to return to the original size.
