Tip for Summer

Postby lyndah on Wed Oct 08, 2003 11:51 am

Hi Girls,

I just thought I might post a note to the forum about a tip I mention to my couples when they come to see me. With summer fast approaching and if you are getting married in the summer months you may want to consider having a spare shirt/s for your FH and groomsmen to change into after their photo shoot before the reception.

Of course this is buget permitting but I started recommending this to clients last year and the grooms were really glad to be able to quickly freshen up before their reception. Remember girls, most of you will be wearing strapless dresses, the poor boys are in heavy dark suits.

This = sweat which = smelly which = yucky!

Lyndah that's a great idea!

My poor hubby had to stand outside in the sun greeting guests as they arrived for our garden ceremony (with cool drinks mind you).

He ended up getting a little sunburnt, poor thing.

What line of biz are you in? (sorry, I may have missed a prev. post).

Hi Annie,

I photograph weddings in Sydney. I came up with this idea last year after we had a few heat waves. I remember one wedding which was a garden ceremony where the groom was greeting his guests. The ceremony took place in full sun. The poor guy was so red in the face he looked like he was sunburnt (not to mention the sweat that was running down his face). As soon as the formalities were over I made him take his jacket off. His shirt was soaked! So there are many photos where he did not have a jacket on. We did compromise though....I made him look like one of those models where they sling their jacket over their shoulder....very suave 8) But he did have to wear that shirt for the rest of the evening. :?

Just another tip that our celebrant gave us which you may or may not
already have heard.

On your wedding day especially in warmer weather smear a little vasoline on the inside of your rings so that you won't have any problem putting them on eachother. Something I hadn't thought of!

Oh gosh, what a good idea about the shirt. Scotty will be in his shirt, vest and jacket all kitted out in his highland gear with long woolly socks. He might be sweating bullets and I hadn't even thought of that.

Good idea about the vaseline too.

getting rid of the smell

Postby Zarny on Wed Oct 08, 2003 9:25 pm

the other thing to think about is a 'crystal stick' - instead of using an anti perspirant deodorant, which clogs up the pores to stop you sweating, and actually can do alot of harm to your skin.

The crystal stick is a stick of some salty crystal, which you wet and use anywhere that you would normally sweat. the salt kills the bacteria that grow in sweat, so although you still do sweat (thats where the spare shirt comes in handy) - it doesnt end up smelling. then you can use a Non antiperspirant deodorant (such as lynx) over the top to add a nice smell.

it really works - i walk 1/2 an hour to work, sit there for 9 hrs with polyester tops and jacket on, then 1/2 hour back home, and even after all this on a hot day, no smell

so yes - its good for guys and girls. generally costs $8-$12, and can be found in 'health food stores', chemists, and increasingly in supermarkets. might sound expensive, but unless you drop and shatter it, the stick will last 3+ years.
