What's for Breakfast?

Wed Mar 12, 2008 9:07 pm

I eat brekkie at work and usually have Weetbix.

At the moment though I'm branching out :P Today I had oats and skim milk with fresh blueberries, peach and a dash of natural yoghurt. YUM! Keeps me full for ages too.

What do you eat for breakfast?

Three Wheat-bix, one banana, sprinkle of LSA (Linseed, Soy & Almond meal).

Keeps me full for hours which is good!

I never have time for brekkie, but when I get to work I either have a huge cup of tea, or a Berocca. I eat lunch at 12pm so I'm not usually hungry.
On weekends I'll have cereal with a piece of fruit, and tea :)

During the week when I don't have much time, a bowl of muesli and skim milk or two pieces of (wholemeal/grain) toast. I vary my toppings :D The boy finds it perplexing that he can't predict what I'm going to eat, I have known him for 5 years and he always, always has a big bowl of muesli with protein powder and skim milk. I can't really function without breakfast, even if it's late or I do something (like go to the gym) first. On weekends I like to take more time and make eggs, scrambled or poached (in the microwave because I'm lazy and have never mastered the technique) and usually with some toast, wilted baby spinach and tomato chutney (if I have them). My favourite is probably when the boy makes croissants and brings them to me in bed, we get two ham and cheese ones and then two plain ones (to put jam or honey on, or just eat as is). Yum. So evil. Breakfast is my favourite meal when it's done right.

I'm a high protein/low carb diet gal, so I'll have one of the following:

- protein shake made with 1 scoop whey protein powder, 100g no fat yoghurt, 30g frozen berries or frozen banana (I had this today, but added frozen peaches :D )

- 'protein porridge' made with 1/2 cup oats mixed with 3 egg whites, tsp flaxseed oil, 1 scoop whey protein powder

- 'protein pancakes' made with 1/2 cut oats blended with 1/2 cup cottage, 3 egg whites, 1 scoop protein powder, tsp baking soda, and a sprinkle of berries on top while cooking...mmmmmm...

- 6 egg white omelette with onion, capsicum, spinach & pepper, with a sprinkle of low fat cheese.

I'm sooooo hungry now after talking about food!!! Lol!

This morning I had a large white choc freddo  I never get up in time to have breakfast at home and I'm not organised enough with taking things to work although sometimes I bring in a whole thing of rice cakes and munch on a few of those each day. I usually don't feel hungry on the weekends until lunch time or we'll have bacon and eggs and not eat again until late afternoon. I do try and eat a good lunch and dinner though on work days at least so as long as I start the day with something it doesn't concern me too much what it is.

My breakfasts vary

this morning is was pancakes made with diet lemonade, with lemon and splender (sugar substitute) so they are very low in fat

Smoothie, bannana with mixed berries, skim milk, ice

Egg white omlette with ham and cheese, a side of mushrooms, tomato and spinach

All Bran and skim milk

i would eat all these options at least once a week, i get lots of inspiration from the weight watchers message boards

I HAVE to have breakfast, or I will end up sick and faint-y by lunchtime. But it doesn't have to be much - ususally, just a piece of toast with vegemite! A while back, I was home alone for 6 weekks (while FH was in the US) and I was making skim milk, natural yoghurt and banana smoothies for breakfast - sooo good. He's not a fan, so I haven't done it as much lately.
I go through stages of eating only one thing, and then will switch to an entirely new thing for the next 2-3 months! Next will probably be either porridge (made on water, with honey for topping) or baked beans on toast. Gotta have something warmer for winter!

On weekdays I usually have either:
Muesli, fruit and skim milk
Porridge and all bran (all bran sprinkled on the porridge)
Baked Beans and toast
Soft boiled egg and toast (rare cos it takes so long and I'm not very good at getting it just right)

On Sundays we usually have:
Eggs, tomato, hash brown, spinach, corn, toast, bacon ... all done on the bbq

When I am feeling like a special breakfast I will have a ham and cheese croissant.

I generally have two pieces of toast with low fat butter. When I am naughty and can't be bothered until I get to work, I enjoy thick raisin toast.
