Run sheet

Wed Oct 03, 2012 1:27 pm

I'm starting to work on the run sheet for our day... and it's very difficult!

I did manage to find a bunch of useful threads - linked for your convenience if you are looking for similar info!

My question is... I have put on my invitations that our ceremony is at 3:00pm. Would you expect guests to be there and seated by 3:00pm, or would you use a window instead, say 2:45 - 3:15pm? At what time should the groom be there? How long after the designated time would you expect the bride to arrive? I know it's a wedding and people should try and be on time, but I have some very un-punctual people in my family and friends!

For our reception, we have put 6:00pm and I have the bride and groom arriving at 6:30pm. The doors will open at 6:00pm and people will then have to find their seats so I think this will be okay. Also, we have a 5 hour drinks package, and would it be okay to start this at 6:30pm and then finish at 11:30pm, when our reception will end at 12:00am?

Our wedding is at 3:30 and I am expecting FH to get there around 3:00. I am hoping my guests are on time because I plan to get there at 3.30...maybe 3.35. I like to be on time! Plus I don't want to run out of time for things, so I want it to start when it's supposed to. I think most people should turn up 10-15 minutes before start time.

Our reception starts at 6:00 too, and we will be starting drinks then. We also have a 5hr package, so that will go till 11:00, then we are going to have a tab for the extra hour - we are thinking that by that stage there wont be too many people drinking too much, so instead of paying for an extra hour we just pay for what they actually drink. Either that or we'll tell people it's free till 11:00 - so get a bunch of jugs/bottles before then :D . I think when you give people a time for the reception (esp if there is a gap between the ceremony & reception) they would expect drinks to start straight away. But that's just my thoughts, everyone is different.

I would assume for guests to be there before your start time and of they aren't then its just poor manners and they will miss out.

I would expect your FH to be there 30 minutes before to greet guests :)

I would start your drinks package from 6, I don't think its fair to ask your guests to be there without drinks for half an hour.

That's a good point, but then our drinks package will run out at 11pm, and I think our reception will be going until 12am... would this be ok?

I think your reception is meant to finish when the drinks / food finish, is there a reason that your drinks package goes for a different length than your reception?

I'm not sure where I got the 6pm start time from! I just found this in my email re the end of the package:

"Last drinks at the Resort are called at 11:30pm for a reception close of 12:00am"

So it looks like our package will start at 6:30pm, and our reception room will open at 6:00pm. Do you think I should investigate how much an additional 30 minutes of drinks would be?

i dont think you will need to have an extra 30 minutes, i think by that time of night most guests will be happy to grab one more drink at 11.30 and finish it off slowly :)

Sorry, I meant 30 minutes at the beginning of the reception? I think last drinks at 11:30 is perfectly fine as most people would have had enough by then.
